Bilateral stimulation,
right here in the browser.

This is a free bilateral stimulation tool for EMDR: a light that moves across the screen at the speed you set, with an optional sound in each ear and a cued-tapping mode. Press start, adjust the speed while it runs, and stop when the set is done. It runs on this screen only, needs no account and saves nothing. The same console, with the light on the client’s own screen and every set counted into the session, is in intuitiveEMDR.

How to use it in a session

Set the speed first. Slower is easier to follow; most clinicians settle between a half and one full sweep a second and adjust during the set as the client’s eyes track. The number under the slider is sweeps a minute.

Choose a movement, a colour and a background the client finds comfortable; a solid, high-contrast dot is easier to follow than a glowing one. Press start, watch the client rather than the screen, and stop when the set is done. The sweep count reads on the left; the sets you have run read on the right.

For sound, turn on the left–right tone and use headphones; the tone lands in the ear the light is nearest. For clients who prefer to tap, cued tapping flashes each half of the screen in the set’s rhythm instead of moving a light.

What the settings do

  • Movement: horizontal is the standard; vertical, diagonal, figure-8 and random are there for clients who track better with a change.
  • Motion: smooth slows at the edges like a pendulum; even keeps one speed across, like a light bar.
  • Set length: run until you stop it, or have the tool stop itself after a number of seconds or sweeps; the light glides to the centre rather than vanishing.
  • Sound: eleven sounds, a volume, and a preview that plays once in each ear.
  • Cued tapping: a flash, a tone or both, with one of two instructions on screen — tap along, or the butterfly hug.

What an account adds

Here, the settings live until you reload the page. In intuitiveEMDR they are kept per client, so nothing is set up twice; the light runs on the client’s own screen from a link you send, in person or by video; every set is counted into the session with its speed and length; and the session’s note is drafted from what happened. The free plan includes all of that for up to three active clients.

Questions

Does the light run on the client’s screen too?

Not here: this page runs on one screen only. In intuitiveEMDR the client opens a link on their own device and sees the same light, in time with yours.

Is anything saved or sent anywhere?

No. This page talks to no server. The settings are in your browser’s memory and are gone when you reload.

Why does the light slow at the edges?

The smooth setting moves like a pendulum, which many clients find easier to track. The even setting keeps one speed across, like a light bar.

Can I use it on a tablet or phone?

It runs in any modern browser. The controls are sized for a laptop; the light itself fills the stage on any screen.

Is this a treatment?

No. It is a tool a trained clinician may use within a session. See the note at the foot of the page.

Keep your settings. Count every set.

A free intuitiveEMDR account keeps bilateral stimulation presets per client, runs the light on the client’s screen and records each set into the session.
